Baseball is Back but there’s a catch…

June 2020 / Thursday, June 25th, 2020

If you’re like me then you have absolutely been suffering during this during this dark time of no Baseball. So I was elated to hear that Baseball is finally making a comeback but was curious to learn all the modifications that have been added to this 2020 season. This season is set to start July 23rd-24th and each team will play a total of 60 games. In order to limit teams from traveling they will play 10 games against each team in their division, 10 games x 4 teams = 40 games. The remaining 20 games will be inter-league games. Some other key rule changes are the NL finally getting the option to utilize a DH. The MLB has also implemented a 3 batter minimum rule per pitcher, this would mostly effect relief pitchers who would would normally come in to face one batter. I was also seeing that the MLB is going to be enforcing a strict no violence or instigating rule. I would imagine this would definitely benefit teams like the Astros from being beamed every at bat, which in all honesty I was looking forward too. Also, to speed up the games teams will now begin with a runner at second base during extra inning games. I’m interested to see how these new rules pan out but overall I’m just ready for Baseball to be back!
