Highs and lows of the weekend

April Post / Monday, April 9th, 2018

A lot of anticipation led up to Jake Arrieta’s home debut against the Marlins this past Sunday. His start wasn’t exactly $75M good, giving up three runs including a homerun in the first inning. He ended up tossing 72 pitches over four innings and the Phillies went on to lose the game against the Marlins 6-3.Not sure if you recall Giancarlo Stanton going 0-5 with five strikeouts against the Rays last Tuesday but he managed to beat that and go 0-7 this past Sunday. He struck out another FIVE times causing his this batting average to drop exponentially to a whopping .167. Someone’s not in Kansas (Miami) anymore. Saturday night was like a page ripped out of a Baseball storybook. Giants vs Dodgers a tale as old as time. Both teams are back and forth the entirety of the game, and remained tied up 4-4 for quite a while. Eventually the Dodgers took the lead which was short lived because McCLUTCHen stepped into the batters box and completely broke the hearts of Dodgers fans(mine included) and mashed a three run homerun to give the Giants a walk off win in the bottom of the 14th. Mind you McCutchen had already had five hits going into that at bat. Last but not least how could I go on without mentioning Ohtani. Not only did Ohtani get his third homerun this past Friday but he also managed to almost throw a perfect game this past Sunday as well. He was lights out against the A’s throwing pitches in the 100 mph range and striking out batters left and right. Eventually he did indeed give up a base hit with one out in the top of the 7th. In total he ended up striking out 12 guys and improving his record to 2-0 on the season. Tune in later this week for my ” Teams to Watch” Blog post. Happy Monday Ya’ll 🙂
