Hi… Hello… Yes I’m still alive if anyone was wondering. Sorry for my absence this weird thing called “my life is crazy” got in my way. But I’m back and ready to talk some baseball, and in honor of my return I have to start of this post discussing…. you guessed it… The Dodgers!!!
The Dodgers didn’t exactly get off to the greatest start, I like to think of it as a World Series Hangover and somehow the Astros avoided it … but let’s face it the beginning of the Dodgers season was rough. Injuries plagued us early and the key players that were producing last year were struggling. Let’s fast forward to today, The Dodgers swept the Rockies this past weekend and defeated the Pirates 5-0 last night, Homers from Joc Pederson, Puig and Bellinger all contributed to the 5 run lead as well Ross Stripling tossing 5 scoreless innings with 7 K’s. The Dodgers are two games out of first place and need to continue to capitalize on a struggling NL West. Oh and we are now officially .500!!!
Max Scherzer threw an absolute gem in last night’s win over the Tampa Bay Rays. As if the win wasn’t enough Scherzer also threw his second “ immaculate inning” in his career. Before you google what an immaculate inning is let me translate for my non baseball freak people, its Three up, three down, with all three batters striking out on three pitches each (So pretty much three Batters all strikeout on three pitches each). Before you brush off this milestone take into account he is the FIFTH player in history to have two immaculate innings in his career oh and has 3 CY Young’s under his belt… no biggie.
Guess who’s back back back, back again again again and no I’m not referring to myself. Madison Bumgarner has returned ! * huge sigh of relief for my Giants fans out there*. Bumgarner suffered a broken pinky and made his season debut last night against the Diamondbacks. Bumgarner gave up 2 ER in the second but eventually settled down striking out three and not allowing a walk over 6 innings. Unfortunately the Giants lost 3-2 ending their 5 game win streak. Happy to have Bum back in baseball now all we need is a healthy Clayton Kershaw return. Did I dare just mention a Dodger player in a Giants post….. *gulp* .
